Anyone else unimpressed by this transfer window ?
We have lost Downing and Song, 2 key players from last season so a massive gap there

Only spent about 18 - 20 million net in the season and that is the season before we move to the OS and the Daves have been quoted that they are going to build a side which can attract about 60K people week in week out..

They seem to be doing things on the cheap, we have spent less than last 2 seasons, I was expecting alot more from this window for sure

Hendrie, Randolph, Obiang, Samuelsen and Lanzini are all unproven but time will tell if they are improvements

Juventus fans are very happy about seeing Ogbonna gone so the Payet transfer is really the only high quality proven addition but he has never played in England so time will tell if he is reaaly an improvent on Downing....

Really hope they will be more ambitious before the window closes because we could struggle this season with a squad that could be weaker than last season.

But hopefully we are much better and all those players will flourish, time will tell but we need at least 4 new players, striker, winger, full back and a midfielder and not on the cheap !

Who said we were going to spend 50 million this summer ?

Thankfully the window hasn't shut

Re: Anyone else unimpressed by this transfer window ?
Based on the expectation built up I can see why people are underwhelmed.

But we've bought reasonably well, not sure we need Ogbonna and I think Randolph is dogshit.

The window isn't shut yet, but I would hope we'd make some moves for a striker at least sooner rather than later and ship out LOLan and Jarvis at the same time. Come in Charlie Austin.

As we stand I think we're well short.

They have time to change it but as we are I'm smalls underwhelmed.

I won't knock it yet as the windows not shut, but we need more quality, and time is running out.

If we sign Austin, Song and one more winger I will be happy.

A front two of Austin and Sakho with Payet behind is exciting. We need Kouyate, Obiang and Noble to perform early on though.

1: Song is coming back
2: Downing was hit and miss
3: We have signed some proper decent players
4: Not sure if this thread is wind up

How do you know Song is coming back?

Doesn't bother me in the slightest. I don't wish to be impressed by the club spending ridiculous amounts of money. If I was impressed it would mean they had spent too much money.

Re: Anyone else unimpressed by this transfer window ?
Payet is a potential key signing, I was hoping for a good centre forward and if we end up signing an unknown loan then I'd be concerned. The other signings could prove to be decent signings but time will tell. The keeper situation also worries me.

Re: Anyone else unimpressed by this transfer window ?
Song is likely to be signed BUT had he been our player anyway he'd have still been out for 3 months.

So were Downing down in reality and Payet on paper is a far, far better player.

So not sure how we can be considered a weaker side.

The first 11 looks the nuts and if they stay pretty much all fit then we could really be in for a good season.

Still we'll be bringing in a few more and the market always gets going more towards the end of the window.

I'm happy enough so far. I think the telling bit will be who else comes/goes between now and the end of the window.

Who goes is as important for me.

Re: Anyone else unimpressed by this transfer window ?
The fact there seems to be genuine interest in D'Ambrosio from the club leads me to think this "2 more players" line from the management is all smoke and mirrors.
